Your initial physiotherapy appointment will be 45 minutes, which allows your physio time to take a detailed history of your condition and any relevant past medical history. We will then fully examine the areas involved to determine what is going on and why you are getting pain.
We will work with you to develop an effective treatment plan that takes into account your lifestyle, leisure activities, general health, and your goals. We will also give you an idea of the type of treatment, the amount of sessions required and the expected outcome.
It will include advice on how you can help yourself. For example, you may be shown exercises that you can do between treatment sessions and how to set goals to achieve results.
To help us with the physical assessment we may ask you to partially undress, so if you can bring shorts (for back or lower limb problems) or a vest top (for neck and upper limb problems).
Initial Consultation & Follow Up
This initial consultation of 45 minutes will include actual treatment of your condition. Follow up treatments will last 30 minutes unless your physio requests different.
If your physiotherapist feels that you require further specialised investigations eg XR, MRI, Ultra Sound scan, CT scan or, if you need to be referred to see a medical Consultant this will be discussed with you and promptly initiated.
